    Festival season is in full swing, and we have quite a lineup this weekend. Get out and enjoy good food, good friends, good music, and good times!

    Gretna Fest - Gretna - October 6, 7, 8

    740 2nd Street

    Offering live music from local, national, and international acts, food, games, arts & crafts, and more, Gretna Fest has become one of the largest festivals in the state. Spanning 20 continuous blocks,

    Single-day tickets are $30 + fees for those 13 and over; 3-day tickets cost $60 + fees. 3-day tickets for ages 5 to 12 are $5 + fees. Children under four are admitted free.

    City Park Fall Garden Festival - New Orleans - October 7 & 8

    5 Victory Avenue

    The Botanical Garden at City Park in New Orleans will come alive with gardening gurus from all over the southeast for Fall Garden Festival 2023. Over 50 vendors will be available at the two-day event exhibiting common, native, and exotic plants as well as gardening paraphernalia. There will be plant sales, cooking, demonstrations, educational programs, arts & crafts, music, and more.

    General admission is:

    • $12 for Adults
    • $6 for Children
    • Free for those under 5 and Friends of City Park members, with proof of active membership

    Daily hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Advance tickets are available online.

    West Louisiana Forestry Festival - Leesville - October 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8

    276 HM Stevens Blvd.

    Carnival rides, a rodeo, livestock, vendors, food, live bands, and 4-H exhibits highlight the West Louisiana Forestry Festival held at the festival grounds in Leesville. Bands on Friday and Saturday include Abigayle Holt & Bootleg Revival, Beaushine & Mahogany Slide, Louisiana Sidemen, and Louisiana Heartbeat.

    Admission is $5 (cash only) for those 5 and over. Free for those younger than 5.

    St. Tammany Parish Fair - Covington - October 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

    1304 N Columbia Street

    In its 114th year, the St. Tammany Parish Fair features a livestock show, exhibits, entertainment, rides, vendors, and a mini farm. This old-time country fair is free and open to the public and fun for the whole family.

    There will be a Wild West show, a rodeo, a chicken calling contest, a parade, a cheer/dance competition, a gospel night, and wonderful fair foods for sale.

    Jeff Davis Parish Fair - Jennings - October 4, 5, 6, 7

    801 S Lake Arthur Avenue

    A pageant, a parade, and judging of livestock, agriculture, and homemaking exhibits highlight the Jefferson Davis Parish Fair. There will be carnival rides, food, and plenty of fun at this free event.

    Beauregard Parish Fair - DeRidder - October 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

    506 West Drive

    "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Agriculture" is the theme for the 94th annual Beauregard Parish Fair. Events on the grounds include educational tours, livestock shows, contests, races, carnival rides, and musical entertainment.

    Fairground hours are:

    • 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM October 4 & 5
    • 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Thursday, October 5 (Senior Citizen Day)
    • 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM October 6 & 7

    A 4-H livestock show and competition begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 7, and continues throughout the day.

    Tangipahoa Parish Fair - Amite - October 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

    1301 NW Central Avenue

    "The Oldest Fair in the State," the Tangipahoa Parish Fair began in 1888. Free and open to the public, it features food, music, and carnival rides, plus livestock, agricultural, homemaking, 4-H, textile, plant, flower, and art exhibits.

    La Fete De Vieux Temps - Raceland - October 6, 7, 8

    4484 Highway 1

    La Fete De Vieux Temps, or Festival of Old Times, showcases the true authentic Cajun culture of Lafourche Parish with music, dancing, Cajun food, a boucherie, rides, old-time exhibitions, and an arts & crafts show.

    There will be a mass on Sunday morning under the pavilion at 9:00 AM.

    Louisiana Cattle Festival & Fair - Abbeville - October 6, 7, 8

    100 N State Street

    Downtown Abbeville will be filled with music, food, fun, and cattle this weekend for the Louisiana Cattle Festival & Fair. Guests can enjoy a cattle show, a grand parade, industry exhibits, beef, 10 bands, and an endless fais-do-do.

    Gates are open:

    • 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM Friday 10/6
    • 9:30 AM to 12:00 AM Saturday 10/7
    • 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sunday 10/8

    A cattle industry dedication mass will be celebrated on Sunday, October 8, at 9:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (300 Pere Megret Street).

    Gentilly Festival - New Orleans - October 6, 7, 8

    5701 Press Drive

    All things "Gentilly" will be celebrated at the Gentilly Festival in the Ponchartrain Park Playground. The festival features live music on three stages, delicious food from local restaurants and caterers, fine arts and crafts for sale, a kid's village, a children's entertainment stage, face painting, garden crafts, pottery making, and so much more.

    Hours are:

    • 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday
    • 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday
    • 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday

    Festival entrance if free.

    Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival - Monroe - October 7

    703 South Riverfront

    Lazarre Park will come alive on Saturday with arts & crafts, live music, a kid's zone, food trucks selling Celtic-themed items, and the much anticipated Highland Games for the Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival.

    Professional and amateur athletes will compete in The Caber Toss, Weights for Distance, Weights for Height, Heavy Hamer, Stone Put, and Sheaf Toss while Backyard Rebellion provides free demonstrations and mini-coaching sessions. Games are free to participate in with a $5 festival admission fee.

    Bluesberry Festival - Covington - October 7

    213 Park Drive

    Held in the riverside Bogue Falaya Wayside Park, the Bluesberry Festival features world-class music, art, food, and culture with a blueberry twist. There will be regional and national Blues-centric artists, a Food Truck roundup serving dishes that incorporate blueberries, locally crafted beers from Abita Brewery including Abita Blueberry beer, a children's village, a relaxation station, and an interactive art tent featuring regional artists.

    General admission is $30 plus sales tax and fees for those 11 years old and up; free for those 10 years old and under. Gates open at 11:30 AM and close at 9:00 PM, rain or shine.

    International French Bread Festival - Jeanerette - October 7

    1630 Main Street

    Live entertainment, a classic car show, STEM activities for kids, wellness stations, food, and French bread specialties will delight visitors for the first International French Bread Festival. Hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free.

    A Taste of the Deep South - Baton Rouge - October 7 & 8

    300 River Road, South

    The seventh annual A Taste of the Deep South happens this Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Held right next to the USS Kidd, this family-friendly event will feature music, food, arts & crafts, jewelry, and clothing.

    Admission is free and open to the public. $100 VIP packages include two t-shirts, four meal and drink tickets, four alcoholic beverage tickets, access to covered tent seating, photo ops with performers, and a CD of "NOW" by Henry Turner, Jr. & Flavor. Bring chairs for lawn seating.

    Roberts Cove Germanfest - Roberts Cove - October 7 & 8

    The Roberts Cove Germanfest offers a taste of German food, fun, and heritage. German folklore, dancers, singing, presentations, demonstrations, kids' activities, and authentic German bands will delight visitors for two days of German immersion.

    Awards will be presented on Saturday for the German-style homebrew competition and an accordion player will stroll throughout the grounds for the duration of the festival. Must be 21 to sample beer.

    Admission is $8 for those 13 and older. No pets allowed.

    Que Pasa Fest - Metairie - October 7 & 8

    3000 Downs Boulevard

    The beauty and history of Hispanic heritage will be celebrated at Que Pasa Fest in Lafreniere Park. This free event features music, food, a children's area, and dance. Hours are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

    Denham Springs Fall Festival - Denham Springs - October 7

    North Range Avenue

    The Antique Village in Downtown Denham Springs hosts the annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 7. There will be food booths, games, kiddie rides, art exhibits, music, and vendors selling antiques, art, greenery, crafts, and more. Stores in the Village will be open for shopping, and bands will be performing at the Old Train Station.

    Craftin' Cajuns Craft Show - Houma - October 7

    346 Civic Center Blvd.

    Over 150 vendors will fill the Barry P. Bonvillain Civic Center in Houma for the Craftin' Cajuns Craft Show & Marketplace this Saturday. Woodcrafts, sand art, bird feeders, candy, metal art, jewelry, candles, apparel, food products, and so much more will be available for purchase.

    Doors are open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and admission is free.
