Music, dancing, food, crafts, cooking demonstrations, workshops, and lots of fun fill Girard Park this weekend for Festivals Acadiens et Creoles. Celebrating French Louisiana culture, the festival is actually three fairs in one: The Bayou Food Festival, The Louisiana Crafts Fair, and a Festival de Musique.

Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival - New Orleans - October 13, 14, 15
602 St. Charles Avenue
Lafayette Square Park is the setting for the 16th edition of the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival. Live blues and jazz performances, a local art market, and some of the best barbecue in the Crescent City will be available across from historical Gallier Hall.
Musical entertainment includes The Lilli Lewis Project, Tab Benoit, Honey Island Swamp Band, John Mooney & Bluesiana, Ernie Vincent, Samantha Fish, Lil Jimmy Reed, Little Freddie King, Cedric Burnside, Shemekia Copeland, and many more.
Free and open to the public.
Zwolle Tamale Festival - Zwolle - October 12, 13, 14
100 S Main Street
Celebrating the rich Spanish and Indian heritage of the people of Zwolle, the 47th annual Zwolle Tamale Festival offers a fun-filled weekend of delicious hot tamales, arts and crafts, musical entertainment, dancing, parades, carnival rides, and children's activities.
Tickets to the Zwolle Festival grounds are:
$2 Thursday
$5 Friday
$10 Saturday
Tamale judging happens at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
Louisiana Cotton Festival - Ville Platte - October 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
704 N Soileau Street
A fais-do-do street dance, carnival rides, a black pot cook-off, a farmer's market, a parade, music, food, and lots of fun highlight the 68th annual Louisiana Cotton Festival.
Admission on Friday and Saturday is $6, with those five and under admitted free. Festival admission is free for everyone on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Featuring arts and crafts, livestock shows, a pageant, carnival rides, contests, shows, and plenty of fun, the Rapides Parish Fair features 4-H, FFA, and adult exhibitors.
Carnival hours are:
4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Wednesday 10/11
2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Thursday 10/12
2:00 PM to 11:30 PM Friday 10/13
11:00 AM to 11:30 PM Saturday 10/14
11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Sunday 10/15
Tickets cost $2, plus a 5-cent service fee. Free "Date Night" passes for Thursday night are available at Alexandria and Pineville MacDonald's restaurants.
Bridge City Gumbo Festival - Bridge City - October 13, 14, 15
1701 Bridge City Avenue
2,000 gallons of gumbo await hungry guests at the 50th Gumbo Festival in Bridge City. Carnival rides, games, food, music, and a gumbo cooking contest are the main highlights of the weekend.
The musical lineup includes the Top Cats, Chase Tyler Band, Rockin' Dopsie Jr., and Trigger Proof. A Beautiful Child contest happens on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Admission is $5 per day.
Louisiana Gumbo Festival of Chackbay - October 13, 14, 15
326 Highway 304
The 51st annual Louisiana Gumbo Festival of Chackbay features rides, music, food, a parade, a live auction, and of course, lots of gumbo. Both chicken & sausage and seafood gumbo will be for sale.
