    The International Rice Festival - Crowley - October 19, 20, 21, 22

    303 N Parkerson Avenue

    The 86th annual International Rice Festival honors the rice industry and its hard-working farmers with music, food, carnival rides, a car show, parades, a fiddle & accordion contest, a rice eating contest, a frog derby, a rice & Creole cookery contest, and much more.

    Among the musical guests are Chris Ardoin, Wayne Toups, Chubby Carrier, Spank the Monkey, Basin Street Band, Geno Delafosse, Louisiana Red, and Jamie Bergeron.

    Carnival times are:

    • Thursday 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
    • Friday & Saturday 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
    • Sunday 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

    The festival is free and open to the public. Unlimited ride wristbands cost $30 per person per day ($25 on Sunday).

    Abita Fall Fest - Abita Springs - October 20 & 21

    Celebrating the art, music, and culture of Abita Springs, the Abita Fall Fest is held at the Abita Springs Trailhead Park. The fun kicks off with a pre-fest party on Friday night from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Called Fall Fest After Dark, it features food trucks, drinks, and live music.

    Gates open at 10:30 AM on Saturday with activities for the whole family. There will be crafts vendors at the harvest market, a kids' zone, a pumpkin stage, an interactive circle, a wine garden, and lots of food. The musical lineup includes Julian Primeaux, Bon Bon Vivant, and Marc Broussard on Friday, and Imagination Movers, Gal Holiday, Strange Roux, Tyler Kinchen & The Right Pieces, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Tyler Farr, Tom Leggett, Lilli Lewis, Cactus Thief, The StumpGrinders, and Christian Serpas & Ghost Town.

    General admission on Friday night is $20 with kids 10 and under admitted free. Admission on Saturday is $25 for adults and $15 for kids 3 to 10. Those two years old and younger are admitted free.

    Washington Parish Free Fair - Franklinton - October 18, 19, 20, 21, 22

    A rodeo, music, a playground, midway rides, a petting zoo, art, and demonstrations at the historical Mile Branch Settlement highlight the Washington Parish Free Fair in Franklinton.

    Hear school bands and choirs, James Linden Hogg, Tracy Byrd, Phunky Monkeys, Clifton Brown, Thomas Cain, Colin Stough, and more throughout the weekend.

    Boucherie & Balloon Festival - Sorrento - October 20, 21, 22

    Jambalaya and cracklin' cook-offs, hot air balloons, carnival rides, live music, and vendors are just a few of the attractions at the Boucherie & Balloon Festival in Sorrento.

    Musical acts include Justin Cornett Band, Dustin Sonnier & The Wanted, Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition, The Mojoes, and many more. A balloon flyover will happen at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning, weather permitting.

    Andouille Festival - LaPlace - October 20, 21, 22

    2900 US Hwy 51

    The 48th annual Andouille Festival takes place this weekend at the St. John Community Center in Laplace. Music, food, arts & crafts, sweets, and a kid's tent will be available for guests to enjoy.

    Gates are open:

    • Friday 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
    • Saturday 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
    • Sunday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM

    Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 3 to 12.

    Rougarou Fest - Houma - October 20, 21, 22

    86 Valhi Blvd

    A free family-friendly event with a spooky flair, the Rougarou Fest in Houma celebrates the rich folklore of the bayous in South Louisiana. Cultural activities, live music, Cajun food, children's activities, a parade, a costume contest, and more will be showcased throughout the weekend.

    Hours are:

    • Friday 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
    • Saturday 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
    • Sunday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

    Traditions, stories, and folklore will be shared on the Atchafalaya Narrative Stage.

    Louisiana Legends Fest - Homer - October 21

    419 West Main Street

    Coach Alton "Red" Franklin, one of the most winningest coaches in high school football, is this year's honoree at the Louisiana Legends Festival in Homer. Festival highlights include a car show, an art show, music, food, and vendors. The headliner is country music singer Deana Carter.

    General admission is free. Superfan tickets cost $25, and VIP tickets are $100.

    NOLA Funk Fest - New Orleans - October 20, 21, 22

    400 Esplanade Avenue

    A 3-day musical celebration of all things funk, the NOLA Funk Festival features an impressive lineup of New Orleans funk artists including:

    • George Porter, Jr.
    • Ivan Neville
    • Irma Thomas
    • Leo Nocentelli
    • The Dirty Dozen Brass Band
    • Bucktown Allstars
    • And, many more

    Tickets start at $45 plus service fees for a one-day pass.
