Louisiana Festivals and Events Happening This Weekend: October 26 through October 29

With Halloween on the horizon, a few of this weekend's festivals are centered around a spooky theme, but all of them focus on fun.
Halloween Art and Nature Festival - Arnaudville - October 28

Children and families are invited to Atelier de la Nature, a 25-acre nature reserve and eco-educational campus, to celebrate Halloween and Louisiana's natural surroundings at the Halloween Art & Nature Festival.
Fifolet Halloween Festival - Baton Rouge - October 26, 27, 28, 29
300 South River Road, Riverfront Plaza
The Fifolet Halloween Festival features events for the whole family as well as adults-only entertainment. A Zombie Pub Crawl, a parade, a Halloween ball, a 5K run, an arts market, an awards ceremony, and more will delight guests during the four-day event. There will be pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, and pumpkin pie available.
Attendants are encouraged to come in costume and bring a non-perishable food item.
BOO & BREW - New Roads - October 29
211 West Main Street
Held in Historic Downtown New Roads, BOO & BREW features beer, food tastings, live music, and Halloween activities for the kids. More than 20 local businesses will host "Trick-or-Treat" stations starting at City Hall and ending at the Court House.
Hours are 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and tickets cost $10 for those 13 and over, and $5 for children 12 and under.
La Fete des Bayous - St. Amant - October 26, 27, 28, 29

La Fete des Bayou, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary's annual church festival, offers live music, good food, entertainment, rides, and lots of fall family fun.
The fun begins with a Corporate Cup Gumbo Cookoff at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 26. Thursday night is also Family Night/alcohol-free night. Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 8:00 AM.

A silent auction and jambalaya cook-offs happen throughout the weekend.
The State Fair of Louisiana - Shreveport - October 26 through November 12
3701 Hudson Avenue
Held at the State Fair Grounds in Shreveport, The State Fair of Louisiana features unique fair foods, free shows, live music, and the state's largest display of carnival rides.
Advance online purchase tickets start at $10 per person for adults/$8 for those 3 to 12.
Greater Baton Rouge State Fair - Baton Rouge - October 26 through November 5

The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair features carnival rides, food, entertainment, agriculture and livestock exhibits, live music, and much more. Musical highlights include The Chee-Weez, James Linden Hogg, Kendall Shaffer, The Confidential Band, and many more.
Admission is:
$5 Monday through Thursday for those over 48" tall
$10 Saturday and Sunday for those over 48" tall
Free for those under 48" tall
Gates are open 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and noon to 10:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Louisiana Book Festival - Baton Rouge - October 28
Downtown Baton Rouge
The 19th annual Louisiana Book Festival takes place on Saturday, October 28, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Downtown Baton Rouge in and around the State Library of Louisiana, the State Capitol, and Capitol Park Museum.
Offering a chance to meet exceptional writers, find new books to read, and enjoy thought-provoking presentations, this world-class literary celebration is free and open to the public.
Acadia Music Festival - Thibodeaux - October 28

A one-day outdoor music festival, Acadia Music Festival features local and national musical artists, food, and an art market.

BREW - Shreveport - October 28
101 Crockett Street
Shreveport's beer festival, BREW, takes place at the Festival Plaza on Saturday, October 28. Over 100 beers, live music, and food samples from some of the best restaurants in Shreveport will be available at this premium beer-tasting event.
Hours are 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and tickets cost $65 per person. 21 and older, only.
Sweet Dough Pie Festival - Grand Coteau - October 28

Town Hall Park in Grand Coteau is the setting for the Sweet Dough Pie Festival. On the schedule are a sweet dough pie contest, food trucks, crafts, and music by:

The Southwest Louisiana Blackpot Festival and Cookoff happens at Vermillionville Historic Village on October 27 and 28 in Lafayette. The cookoff takes place on Saturday afternoon and includes Gravy, Gumbo, Cracklins, Jambalaya, and Dessert categories.
