    $61 Million Rail Plan Announced

    2023-11-13

YARDLEY, Pa. -- It was an exemplary day of vivid sunshine, a placid breeze and gentle temperatures, but the centerpiece here one recent afternoon wasn’t the delightful conditions outside but inside.

Inside Yardley Jewelers, a striking shop at Lake Afton Avenue and South Main Street in the charming Bucks County borough, is where it was happening: the start of a liquidation sale of the store’s entire stock. Included was fine jewelry and custom pieces made by jeweler Barry DiNola, as well as antique and estate items, bridal jewelry and gemstones. Store showcases also were for sale.

“There are about 20 people here right now waiting to talk to me,” said a busy but cordial DiNola, owner, soon after the opening of the sale. “It’s extremely busy here.”

Following what he says has been a fulfilling and inspiring 46 years running his site, DiNola was ending retail operations at the iconic store and now “will be doing custom work and repair work.”

It’s been a lifelong passion and dream come true for the award-winning fine jewelry designer to have handled nothing but the best for customers. Said DiNola: “I’ve been doing this for 53 years and am fortunate to be part of this great community.”

But for a major fire at the site in 1977, Yardley Jewelers has relished in serving customers’ needs and desires for generations, said DiNola, who has run the business with wife Mary Jane.

“We take great pride in creating customer pieces that perfectly capture and celebrate life’s milestones and last a lifetime,” he said. “We’ll continue to do that.”

Throughout his career running the store, DiNola was acknowledged numerous times with awards like Jeweler of the Year and Craftsman of the Year by the Pennsylvania Jewelers Association.

DiNola’s touch on the Yardley community he calls “great” goes beyond the jewelry business. He is the Assistant Fire Chief of the Yardley Makefield Volunteer Fire Company and the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough of Yardley. In 2018, the fire company marked his service and named him “Firefighter of the Year.”

Mary Jane DiNola is a member of the Yardley Makefield Women’s Club, where she has served as president, and has been secretary to the Yardley Business Association.
