Cool cats in Kansas City you can adopt right now

    2023-12-02

Kansas City shelters are full to the brim right now with cute and cuddly cats just waiting to to find a new home. Here are a few to consider!

    Charlie

I've heard of a charlie horse before but never a charlie cat. Charlie is a sweet black cat with a white poof on his chest, currently living at Great Plains SPCA with the other shelter kitties. Although they're his friends (usually--he does get in an occasional spat), he would have no qualms in bidding them adios to live in a home like yours. That's cold, Charlie, real cold.

Charlie has a terrific personality and would be a great fit for just about any home. He's good with other cats. He's good with kids. The fine folks at Great Plains even dressed him up for Halloween this year, and he had no complaints, maybe just a bit of a sour puss.

    Spree

Next up is Spree, from the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter. Spree came to the shelter along with his fellow candy-themed compatriots, Bazooka and Chicklet after a Parkville woman who was taking care of a clowder of strays had to move. Spree is a bit shy at first, but he'll warm up to you if you show him even the slightest bit of affection.

Today (December 1st) is a big day for Spree. He is going through eye surgery. He lost the use of his left eye in the wild, and in order to prevent infection, he's going to have it removed today. Good luck Spree!

He'll take a little time to heal but will be ready to adopt in mid-December. That will give you just enough time to fill out the paperwork here, meet the little dude, and get his new home ready. Then he'll be settling in with you just in time for the holidays.

Maybe you'd like to adopt Bazooka and Chicklet too? Best. Christmas. Ever.

    Butterfly

Next up, from Meowy Matchmakers, is Butterfly. Although she might not know a touchdown from a home run, and she's never even heard of Taylor Swift, Butterfly is the perfect little kitty to enjoy a Chiefs game with. She's social. She's fun loving, and she'll snooze on a Chiefs blanket like nobody's business. She also loves snacking and food in general, although she not a big fan of hot wings and beer.

Her foster mom says that she loves her treats so much that she might be a good candidate for learning tricks. It'd be fun to try at least. What tricks would you teach Butterfly?

    May and Deacon

May and Deacon, siblings from The Animal Rescue Alliance, are almost nine months old now and have been staying in their foster home for a while. Their only Christmas wish is to find a permanent place to stay, ideally a place with a cat tree. Also, with a well-stocked aviary they can roam freely in.

May, above, has beautiful tabby swirls and loves cuddling with her human pals and playing around the house.

Deacon is also a playful socialite. Deacon loves batting around balls and climbing on his cat tree. Here's a regal pic of Deacon:

It would be great if they could be adopted together, but if not, it'd be best if they had another cat around the house to hang out with. You learn more about May here and Deacon here.

    Lucas

Lucas--can you get any cuter?Photo byCats Pawjamas

Last, but not least, from Cats Pawjamas is the little orange fireball, Lucas. Lucas is all you'd ever want in a kitten. He's cute as can be, he's affectionate, and he's playful. A bonus: his purring sounds like a motorcycle. You should set up a meet and greet to find out if he sounds more like a Harley or a sports bike. Report back in the comments section.

Lucas is good with cats and he's lived with a dog without issue. He'd be best without young children (under 10) but besides that, this little kitty would be a great fit for just about any home.

You can learn more about this guy here.
