This Abandoned Hospital is One of the Creepiest Places in Missouri

Missouri is home to its fair share of abandoned buildings and ghost towns but none are quite as creepy as this abandoned hospital that can be found in Ironton. Keep reading to learn more.

Old St. Mary’s Hospital opened in 1926. It was the first hospital in Iron County.

Over the years, the hospital expanded and by the 1960s, the facilities were upgraded to modern standards and expanded to care for more patients.

In 1999, the hospital shuttered permanently. It has sat eerily vacant ever since.

Over the years, the building has changed ownership many times with numerous talks of restoring and repurposing the building. But as of today, nothing has really come of it.

Since it has been closed, locals have claimed to see shadowy figures walking across the lawn and have heard odd noises coming from the grounds.

Wandering inside is strictly prohibited but visitors can still access this site from the sidewalk. Who knows, you may even encounter something strange if you do decide to visit.

Whether or not you believe in paranormal activity, there's no denying this abandoned hospital remains one of Missouri's creepiest buildings.
