    2023-12-12
    • Four-year-old Ronnie Lynn accidentally shot himself in the head, leading to paralysis, after finding an unsecured gun at his home in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania.
    • Ronnie's parents, Laura Steele and Michael Lynn, face charges of child neglect and endangerment following the incident.
    • Despite significant progress in his recovery, Ronnie remains partially paralyzed and requires a wheelchair.

In a heart-wrenching incident, four-year-old Ronnie Lynn found a loaded and unsecured gun under a bed while searching for a paint set in his Rostraver Township home.

The child accidentally shot himself in the forehead, resulting in paralysis and severe brain and eye damage. The bullet’s trajectory through his skull left him in a critical condition, necessitating emergency medical intervention.

His parents, Laura Steele and Michael Lynn, were at home during the incident and heard the gunshot. They now face serious charges of child neglect and recklessly endangering another person. The accident, which occurred on July 6, has profoundly impacted the family, with Ronnie showing some recovery signs but still facing significant challenges. He has regained some movement and speech, but remains dependent on a wheelchair and has to wear a helmet for protection.

Police have classified the shooting as accidental but emphasize the importance of safe firearm storage to prevent such tragedies. The local community has rallied around the family, with a GoFundMe page established to help cover medical expenses. Ronnie, described as a "strong little independent boy," loved helping around the house and engaging in arts and crafts, illustrating the depth of the tragedy that has befallen this young life.
