Elementary school nurse honored for saving staffer's life

LURAY, Va. ― The Page County school system, faculty, staff and students recently honored a school nurse for her quick-thinking and life-saving actions.

The event was announced via media release by Tricia Runyan, Page County Public Schools Communications Specialist.

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, State Superintendent of Public Education, Dr. Lisa Coons,, and VDOE Chief of Staff Dr. Jeremy Raley, joined the faculty and staff of Shenandoah Elementary to honor school nurse Tara Fox.

In a group assembly, Dr. Coons spoke about heroes, and noted that Shenandoah Elementary has one in their building every day.

Fox recently saved the life of a school staff member by immediately performing CPR and assisting emergency services upon their arrival.

PCPS is very proud of Ms. Fox and grateful for her work, the media release read.
