    Teens discovered with drugs and loaded assault rifle after hit-and-run

    STAFFORD, Va. – A weekend vehicle crash resulted in multiple charges for two local juveniles.

    According to a media release by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the incident occurred on Sunday, December 10.

    At approximately 4:31 p.m. SCSO deputies responded to AutoZone, located at 312 Worth Avenue, for a report of an accident involving two vehicles.

    The caller advised witnessing the collision, followed by two subjects exiting the first vehicle to “harass” the driver of the second vehicle. Before the arrival of law enforcement, the two subjects from the first vehicle fled toward Onville Road.

    A deputy arrived at the Worth Avenue location and made contact with the victim as other deputies began searching the area for the suspect vehicle.

    The victim advised that following the collision, the other vehicle’s occupants aggressively approached him, and the passenger had threatened him.

    A deputy soon located a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ on Sundance Road and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle had recent front-end damage and two juvenile occupants.

    The driver confessed he was involved in the Worth Avenue accident and only had a learner’s permit.

    During the traffic stop, the deputy observed both tobacco and marijuana in the possession of the driver. The vehicle also contained an AR-15 rifle along with a loaded magazine.

    Criminal complaints for underage possession of a firearm, hit and run, underage possession of marijuana, underage possession of tobacco, and driving without a license were filed for the driver.

    Criminal complaints for disorderly conduct and simple assault were filed for the passenger.

    The driver was detained at the Juvenile Detention Center, while the passenger was released to the custody of his mother.
