    Man Gets Leg Trapped in Stump Grinder in Ohio County, WV

    OHIO COUNTY, WV

    In a distressing incident in Oglebay, West Virginia, a 19-year-old man suffered severe injuries to his leg on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, when his leg became trapped in a stump grinder.

    The Ohio County EMA Director, Lou Vargo reported that the accident caused the 19-year-old to have some serious damage done to his leg that had been stuck in the stump grinder.

    We gathered some of the information surrounding this incident from the WTRF-7 News Channel as they covered it, the Ohio County Sheriff's Department, and from EMA Director Vargos reports.

    Swift response from Ohio County EMA, EMS, Wheeling, and West Liberty Fire Departments, along with assistance from Ohio County Sheriff's Deputies, ensued. All of the agencies were crucial in their roles of providing prompt assistance to the young man caught in this tragic accident.

    The accident happened in the Oglebay Area on Route 88, of Ohio County, West Virginia. The injured man was promptly airlifted to WVU Medicine Ruby Hospital in Morgantown, designated as a level one Trauma center. No information on the mans condition has been given at this time, though his injuries were serious thankfully they were not life threatening.
