Young to Take Seat on Nashville School Board

    2023-12-18

Former council member runs unopposed for school board seat

A former member of the Nashville Metro Council will soon take a seat on the Metro Nashville School Board.

Zach Young of Goodlettsville was the only candidate to qualify for the East Nashville school board seat being vacated by Emily Masters. That means Young will take the seat following the August 2024 elections.

Young served one term on the Nashville Metro Council before losing a re-election bid earlier this year.

In a social media post, outgoing board member Masters endorsed Young.

    She said, in part:

"Zach Young is the right person for the job. His passion for Metro Nashville is evident from his track record as a Metro Council member."

Masters noted that Young pushed for important community projects while on Metro Council, including funding for the new Goodlettsville Elementary School.

The ballot is set for the primary in March, but can independent candidates still get on the August ballot?
