These cats from local KC shelters are looking for a home for the holidays
2023-12-23
If your house needs a little warmth and love this holiday season, maybe consider bringing home a feline friend. Here are some excellent options.
Ben
First up, from the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, is a great pick for people who want one and only one cat. That's because he's a bit of a bully (with other cats), but he's got so much love to give, he's all the cat you'll need. He's a big guy with a big personality and would love to find a permanent home where that personality can shine.
If you're interesed in big Ben, you can fill out a pre-adoption application here. There's also a video of Ben on his Petfinder page so you can see him in action.
Louise
Louise, from Great Plains SPCA, is a sweetheart who, unlike Ben, would thrive in a home with another cat, or lots of cats for that matter. She can be a shy girl, and will take a little while to warm up to her new home (yes, your home), and another cat hanging around would do wonders in accelerating her acclimation.
She loves hanging out in the sun room at the shelter with her feline friends. Her BFF had been a cat named Thelma, but it looks like Thelma has been adopted, leaving poor Louise behind. Louise ain't mad about it, but she does need to find a new bestie to hang out with. Maybe that's your cat, maybe that's you. Regardless, this little girl will make you so happy that you'll drive off a cliff
Sadie almost looks like a mountan lion or other big cat, and she is a big girl, listed as "extra large" on her Petfinder page. At 17, she's also the oldest on this list (by far), and just wants to find a kind soul who will give her a loving home during her golden years. The vet says she's in good shape for her age, and she only ended up at Meowy Matchmakers because her dad had to go to a nursing home.
Despite looking grumpy in the picture above, she's as sweet as can be and purrs constantly. Worry not--she doesn't have "RBF"--here's a picture of her in a better mood:
Her hobbies are sitting on laps, making biscuits, and napping. Hey, those are my hobbies too.
Let's hope Sadie gets her Christmas miracle and finds a permanent home soon. You can make that miracle happen here.
Dosa and Tre
Next up from TARA (The Animal Rescue Alliance), we have Dosa and Tre. If you follow these posts, you might remember a terrific tabby named Borylo from last week. Dosa is Borylo's "lady friend." He and her hang out all the time, and it would be great to adopt together. In fact, Dosa also has a son named Tre, and it would be fantastic, if all three got to stay together. Here's a picture of the handsome trio.
Dosa and Tre were found abandoned and in rough shape when they made their way to The Animal Rescue Alliance. They're in tip top health now thanks to lots of love and patience from the fine folks at TARA. Dosa and Tre show their gratitude everyday.
Tre's a shy guy who may take some time to be as affectionate with humans as his mom. He's a sweetheart though and loves his playtime. He just needs to learn the joy of being pet, laptime, and all of those other things that get more social cats into a purring frenzy.
You can learn more about Tre here and about Dosa here. Here is Borylo, the boyfriend.
Noir
Last but not least, from Cats Pawjamas, we have Noir. This little black cat had a respiratory infection that scarred his cornea. As a result, he now has an eye that looks a bit like a marble. It doesn't bother him, and it doesn't require any medical attention. It just makes him a dream cat for all of you witches out there.
Noir is a bundle of energy and would be best suited to houses with other energetic cats or energetic human who would love nothing more than playing with him for long stretches. He might get lonely if everyone is away at work or school all day, without other cats (or a cat-loving dog) to romp around with. Otherwise, Noir would be perfect if you're looking for a fun cat with a cool look. If you're more into "Nightmare Before Christmas" than "Miracle on 34th Street," Noir might be the cat for you. You can learn more about him here.
Want to look at more cats? Many of the cats from weeks past are still available. You can peruse those with this link to my profile.
I thought the shelters say not to give pets as gifts for Christmas ?? now they want to empty the shelters before the New Year. which would be wonderful but I'm confused

When has Kansas ever paid for Royals and Chiefs stadiums or anything related. They both are KC and both states should have been responsible for years. Until the Royals product gets better…what is the need for a new stadium?
