In a tragic incident, two 10-year-old boys lost their lives after their father attempted to flee from a traffic stop and subsequently crashed late Wednesday in Wisconsin. The father, who was driving the vehicle, and two other children were left in critical condition following the accident.

The harrowing series of events unfolded when a sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop around 11:49 p.m., citing the driver for speeding and lacking license plates. After briefly stopping, the driver accelerated away, leading to a pursuit that culminated in a crash approximately 11 miles away from the initial stop.

Sheriff Eric Severson expressed profound sorrow, calling the crash a horrific tragedy and extending condolences to the bereaved families. Despite the chase, the vehicle crashed independently without direct involvement with law enforcement.

Severson emphasized the speed of the fleeing vehicle, mentioning that deputies were unable to maintain visual contact during the crash due to the high rate of acceleration.

The vehicle carried a total of six occupants, including the driver, his girlfriend, and four children. Apart from the fatalities, all remaining passengers sustained injuries, with varying conditions reported by the sheriff's department.

The Wisconsin State Patrol will conduct a thorough investigation into the crash. While the incident is under review, Sheriff Severson clarified that there's no immediate evidence suggesting wrongdoing by the deputies involved.

At this early stage of investigation, the sheriff's office refrained from releasing the identities of the deceased and injured. It was disclosed that the driver had an outstanding warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The pursuit began in Pewaukee and concluded in Delafield, prompting the involvement of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in reviewing the incident for transparency. Sheriff Severson pledged to assess the incident from policy and procedural perspectives to ensure comprehensive understanding and adherence to protocols.
