In a shocking incident at the Clark County District Court in Las Vegas, Judge Mary Kay Holthus was violently attacked by a freshly-convicted criminal, Deobra Delone Redden.

The attack occurred right after Judge Holthus denied bail to Redden and was in the process of sentencing him. Captured on video, the footage shows Redden leaping from his position, jumping over the judge's bench, and physically assaulting Judge Holthus.

Redden, who was being sentenced for aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm, hurled himself at the judge and the marshal, initiating a violent encounter. In the video, Redden is heard using explicit language and is seen repeatedly punching Judge Holthus. Security officers struggled to restrain Redden during the chaos.

Judge Holthus sustained injuries from the assault and is currently under medical supervision. The marshal involved in the incident also suffered injuries and was transported to a hospital. The Las Vegas District Court issued a statement commending the bravery of those who subdued the defendant and emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the courthouse and its occupants. The court is reviewing its protocols to enhance security measures.

Redden's criminal history spans both Nevada and Texas, with charges including battery, robbery, assault, and coercion. He had been previously subjected to a competency determination and was declared competent in October.
