Historic New Orleans Collection purchases former K-Paul's Kitchen

    2024-01-09

The Historic New Orleans Collection has purchased the original K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen building which is locted at 416 Chartres Street in the French Quarter for $5 million. This the 2nd time in just two years that the building has changed owners. In 2022, a local group bought the building with plans to turn it into a breakfast and lunch resturant, but their plans fell through. THNOC plans to turn the building into museum dedicated to New Orleans' heritage.

The 2-story building is well known due to the late Chef Paul Prudhomme, who opened his Cajun and Creole restaurant there in 1979. The restaurant was credited with helping to put New Orleans on the culinary map and popularizing Cajun cuisine. The Prudhomme’s family continued to operate the restaurant after Paul's death in 2015, but it permanently closed in 2020.
