Governor Abbott Sent Over 100,000 Migrants To Sanctuary Cities

On Tuesday, January 9, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a new milestone as part of Operation Lone Star. Texas has transported over 100,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. 

Governor Abbott began busing migrants to Washington, D.C. in April 2022 to show President Joe Biden the issue Texas was dealing with. Since then, Governor Abbott has bused migrants to sanctuary cities as Texas continues to see thousands of migrants cross its border with Mexico.

Governor Abbott’s most recent update on migrants sent to sanctuary cities doesn’t add up to 100,000 since this press release was several days ago on January 5.

• Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C. since April 2022
• Over 35,600 migrants to New York City since August 2022
• Over 29,400 migrants to Chicago since August 2022
• Over 3,400 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022
• Over 15,000 migrants to Denver since May 18
• Over 1,400 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14

Governor Abbott said on X, which is formerly Twitter:

“Texas has transported over 100,000 migrants to sanctuary cities to relieve overwhelmed border towns.”

“Until Biden reverses course on his open border policies, Texas will continue transporting migrants to these cities.”

“We will not back down on our efforts to secure the border.”

Governor Abbott blamed the border crisis on President Joe Biden. The governor said on X:

“Americans must never forget that the Biden Open Border disaster was intentional and extensive.”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently visited the Texas border and said there wasn’t an open border. 

Mayorkas said according to CBA Austin:

“We are delivering consequences for individuals who do not use those lawful pathways.”
