    2024-01-11

Schools that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) usually help their students make more money after they graduate.

In the last 10 years, STEM has become really important because many jobs now require knowledge of science and technology.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says there were 10.2 million STEM jobs in 2020, and this number is increasing. People who work in STEM jobs typically earn more than double the average pay in the country.

I made a list of colleges in Maryland with the best return on investment, and one college in College Park got recognized too.

I used a study from 2019 by Anthony P. Carnevale, Ban Cheah, and Martin Van Der Werf at Georgetown University. I only looked at colleges that mainly give out bachelor's degrees.

The colleges are ranked based on how much money you can make over 40 years after graduation, and ties are decided by how much you can earn in the first 10 years. The study thought about the net present value, which is about balancing today's costs with what you'll earn in the future.
