Security Guard Steps In as Protester Disrupted DeSantis Event

    2024-01-12

During a campaign stop in Iowa on Thursday night, a protester and two others interrupted GOP Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' speech. In response, a security staffer took action and tackled the protester.

A protestor was forcefully removed from the stage after displaying a banner with the message "DeSantis: Climate Criminal." The individual is thought to have ties to the Sunrise Movement, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating climate change. The coordination among the protesters remains unclear, as they disrupted DeSantis' 90-minute event at various intervals.

"This incident highlights a concerning issue within the college system," DeSantis remarked, while security personnel swiftly removed a protester from the packed venue. The individual derided the protester for openly displaying his banner, thus revealing his intentions beforehand.

During a recent event, a protester voiced their concerns to the Florida governor, accusing him of accepting funds from wealthy executives. In response, the governor raised his voice and sternly urged the protester to cease their interruption.

"Excuse me, I'm doing this," DeSantis stated. "I believe you have a specific purpose or intention." An event showcasing DeSantis took place at a bustling BBQ restaurant, drawing in a large crowd of attendees. The gathering was orchestrated by Never Back Down, a super PAC that is backing his presidential campaign. He had already visited two other locations earlier in the day.

During a post-event interview, he stated, "I will not allow any individuals to hastily approach the stage or engage in any disruptive behavior. However, I am more than willing to answer inquiries from individuals who ask appropriate and respectful questions."

Another instance of a protester causing disruption at a DeSantis event occurred on Thursday night. During DeSantis' town hall with Fox News in Des Moines on Tuesday, an anti-oil protester made their voice heard by chanting "no oil money".

During a press conference on Thursday, DeSantis remarked that such occurrences are quite common. "The individuals or groups that they are allocating their funds towards are worth noting." It is evident that there are certain actions being taken with the media. According to a Republican, having the media oppose a candidate is considered the ultimate endorsement.
