Aaron Jones, Packers Embarass the Cowboys

    2024-01-15

How about this Green Bay Packers team? Against all odds, the Green Bay Packers went into Dallas (late because of the weather) and took it to the Dallas Cowboys, knocking them out of the NFL Playoffs.

The game was never close and the Cowboys were never under control. Meanwhile, Jordan Love looked poised, a Joe Barry-coached defense looked stout, and Aaron Jones looked like the true owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

Green Bay Packers Embarass the Dallas Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers could do no wrong on Sunday of Wild Card Weekend. Even when Jordan Love threw bad passes or the defense was completely out of alignment, the Cowboys refused to take advantage. Meanwhile, it was nothing but mistakes from Dallas.

From the jump, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb were never in sync. The defense also could not handle the motion from the Packer offense, often leading to misalignment and miscommunication, which resulted in the Packers throwing touchdowns on air. Costly penalties (whether they were there or not), also extended drives and benefited the Packers in the first half. This gave them all of the momentum, which they refused to surrender.

Aaron Jones Named New Dallas Cowboys Owner

All season long, the Cowboys have struggled defensively against teams who could "out-physical" them or run downhill at them. The Green Bay Packers did exactly that, as Aaron Jones, their best player, continued his dominance over Dallas.

Entering Wild Card Weekend, Jones averaged 157.3 yards and two touchdowns per game against the Cowboys. On Sunday, Aaron Jones continued this dominance, totaling 118 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and another 13 through the air.

Aaron Jones has been so dominant against the Cowboys that Wikipedia has listed him, not Jerry Jones, as the Dallas Cowboys owner:

Packers vs 49ers - Can They Do It?

The Green Bay Packers now travel west to face the San Francisco 49ers. You do not need me to remind you of the Packers vs 49ers postseason history. Let's just hope Green Bay defends the run a bit better than in the past.

Much like the matchup against Dallas, there is no pressure on the Packers next weekend. The 49ers are once again Super Bowl contenders, and they are the obvious favorites in the NFC. If they do not reach the Super Bowl, it would be considered a massive failure. As for the Packers, they have already greatly exceeded expectations. This young team is also similar to the Super Bowl Bengals team from a couple of seasons ago in that this young team (made up of successful college players) in that they don't know what they don't know. Their ignorance may be their greatest strength next weekend.

So, what do you think? Can this young Green Bay Packers team knock off another contender?
