Pursuit suspect arrested after deliberately crashing through the gates at Chino Airport

UPLAND, Calif -- In a dramatic turn of events on the morning of January 17, 2024, a dangerous pursuit unfolded involving law enforcement from two cities, ending with the apprehension of a suspect who had previously evaded capture.

The incident began when the Chino Police Department investigated a security breach at Chino Airport.

According to authorities, an individual in a truck deliberately crashed through the airport's gates. When confronted by officers, the suspect attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon against them, causing Chino Police to initiate a pursuit. However, the suspect managed to elude law enforcement.

In a coordinated response, the Upland Police Department (UPD) was alerted to the situation. UPD officers quickly spotted the truck as it traversed through Upland's streets. Despite their attempt to bring the truck to a stop, the driver instead accelerated away, showing a clear intent to flee.

The pursuit continued with intensity as the truck entered the 10 freeway, weaving dangerously through traffic. In a desperate attempt to exit the freeway at 4th Street, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a barrier wall.

Subsequently taken into custody, the suspect now faces several charges. Upland officers have charged the individual with felony evasion, while the Chino Police Department has also leveled multiple felony counts against him.

The successful conclusion of this high-stakes chase is credited to the seamless collaboration between the UPD and the Chino Police's swift communication of valuable suspect and vehicle information to neighboring agencies.
