The U.S. Supreme Court order supported the Biden administration but Texas Governor Greg Abbott defied the order and continued to protect the southern border it shares with Mexico. The Texas National Guard continues to lay concertina wire to prevent illegal immigrants from entering Texas.

The migrant battle between Governor Abbott and the Biden administration continues.

On January 22, the U.S. Supreme Court gave the Biden administration authority over the southern border according to The Texas Tribune. The Biden administration believes Governor Abbott’s actions interfered with U. S. Customs and Border Patrol.

St. Edward’s University Political Science Professor Brian Smith said according to Fox 14:

"The courts weren't willing to reverse 200 years of immigration policy on this issue."

Recently, Governor Abbott took over a park in Eagle Pass that he felt illegal immigrants were using. This is the same park the National Guard uses to prepare and deploy vehicles and boats to support Operation Lone Star.

One Texas Congressional believes Governor Abbott’s actions were unconstitutional.

Congressional representative Veronica Escobar said according to KFOX TV:

“What Governor Abbott is doing is not just unconstitutional, and it’s not just harmful to very vulnerable people, but it is impairing the border patrol's ability to do their job, and it’s the border patrol that is trained and equipped to address migration.”

But Senator John Coryn supported Governor Abbott and said:

“This administration's refusal to take its responsibility for this crisis is pathetic.”

Coryn was joined by other Republicans who disagreed with the latest ruling of the Supreme Court according to Business Insider.

Here are more details on the Supreme Court ruling:
