"People's Republic of Texas" The Border Crisis & Russia

Russia is latching onto the border dispute between Texas and the Biden Administration:

"Establishing a People's Republic of Texas is getting more and more real" -Dmitry Medvedev on x.com (Twitter)

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, tweeted that "establishing a People's Republic of Texas is getting "more and more real" in a lengthy post that went on to discuss the current U.S. immigration crisis and the possibility of another civil war:

"(Washington) can drive the people of Texas up the wall – the very people who are even now mulling over separation." -Dmitry Medvedev on x.com (Twitter)

Medvedev described the border dispute between Texas and Washington in stark terms:

"The American Administration shows its total inability to cope with the migration crisis which has broken out in one of the largest US states. (Texas') governor stopped giving even the slightest damn as to what the White House and its senile old man Biden think, and started to mend barbed wire fences." -Dmitry Medvedev on x.com (Twitter)

And Medvedev is not alone.

Russian politician Sergey Mironov - who has been sanctioned by the U.K. and Canada for his involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine - tweeted his support for Texas Independence in Russian (the following English translation was reported by Newsweek):

"In the conflict between Texas and the United States, I am on the side of the state. At least Texas does not interfere in the affairs of other countries. If necessary, we are ready to help with the independence referendum. And of course, we will recognize the People's Republic of Texas if there is one. Good luck! We're with you!" -Sergey Mironov (x.com via Newsweek)

The Russian News Agency "Sputnik" has also published a music video - about (again) "The People's Republic of Texas" - called "Rise Up, Texas" (which is supposedly going "viral" in Russia) on Twitter:

This is not the first time Russia has attempted to exploit the "Texas secession" issue. A Saint Petersburg Russia-based "troll army" established a popular pro-secession Facebook page in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential election.

However, when asked on Fox News this week whether the current standoff between Texas and the Biden Administration will "turn into a civil war," Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick replied as follows:

"We believe constitutionally we are right, we have a right to defend our citizens, we have a right to defend this country and we are just doing our job. These young women and men who serve our National Guard and our DPS these are the best of the best why would he want to send anyone down to confront them." -Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick
