This Watt Avenue Restaurant is Working on Reopening after Closing Down

Sam’s Hof Brau , a longtime Arden-Arcade restaurant at 2500 Watt Avenue, closed in 2023 after a fire. The space was put up for lease earlier this year, but it seems the restaurant will be reopening after all now that the owner has submitted plans for repair and remodels.

Broker Joe Blanton of Stone Real Estate said that the 7,208-square-foot restaurant has received a few letters from interested parties, but no offer has been made. However, according to owner Kenneth Schlesinger , whose family owns the property the restaurant called home for decades, the space was only put up for sale to test the market’s interest. Schelsinger also mentioned he received overwhelming customer requests for the restaurant to reopen. The “for lease” sign has since been removed.

Schlesinger stated that it could take up to three years to complete the repair project because he wanted to restore the restaurant to its original state before the devastating fire as much as possible. However, customers won’t have to wait that long as Schlesinger has also filed applications to establish a 30-foot-long food truck, refrigerated container, and a rotisserie grill outside the building to serve the loyal customers until the restaurant is ready to reopen.

Schlesinger said he expects to sign a contract next week for the food truck. The construction will take approximately three months to complete. The food truck will offer rotisserie turkey and roast beef. Schlesinger also plans to offer catering.
