Attorneys say a jury has been selected in the upcoming trial in the fatal Bridgeport shooting of a local amateur boxer.

Authorities say 27-year-old Raymond Sierra was killed in front of his home on Union Avenue in September of 2020.

Friends and family say Sierra was a loving father of five children and was also a mentor to many young people in Bridgeport.

"Mr. Boykin, Deontae Boykin, is the alleged assailant in this murder and he's charged with murder for the actual death of the victim. He's also charged with felony murder and the underlying felony. The allegation is that there was a robbery that ensued that produced the death of this young man," says defense attorney Dennis Bradley.

Defense attorneys say Deontae Boykin is innocent.

Friends and family of the victim say they plan to be in the courtroom when the trial gets underway on Tuesday.
