The annual Big Elkin BrrrFest and The Great American Soup Off returns this weekend to Coley Hall at the Liberty in downtown Elkin.
The BrrrFest will showcase beers from local craft breweries and community cooks will compete in the soup off where guests can taste and vote on their favorites.
This year there will be nine breweries featured at BrrrFest, seven of which are new to the event. Participating breweries this year are Surry County's Thirsty Souls Community Brewing and Midsummer Brewing (Mt. Airy) along with Laconia Ale Works (Sparta), Lost Province Brewing Co. (Boone), Red Buffalo Brewing Co. (Statesville), Oden Brewing Co. (Greensboro), Buzzed Viking Brewing & Meadery (Concord), and Holy City Brewing (N. Charleston, SC) and of course, Elkin's own Angry Troll Brewing.
In addition to tasting local brews, guests can also enjoy soup samples. Proceeds from all soup tasting tickets will benefit the Yadkin Valley United Fund.
Live music and a Super Bowl simulation squares game will offer a fun atmosphere for all ages, event organizers said. The Box Dogs will perform from 11 a.m. to 1p.m., Michael Chaney and Jon Montgomery will perform from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
