Tanja Begerack, born in Munich in 1984, spent her formative years split between Germany and Spain. Despite being born with a physical disability, she explored the realms of media and spirituality from a young age, recognizing the depth of the human mind and her own purpose. With roles as an author, medium, spiritual companion, and mental trainer, she has garnered recognition in the media landscape. Through her extensive experiences and social projects, she has shared her spiritual insights globally. Now, she channels her journey into writing, offering readings and lectures while aiming to expand her literary contributions and support various social and spiritual endeavors.

Author Q&A

What inspired you to write your first book?

From an early age, I loved it when my parents read to me from books every evening. I learned to read myself very early and was fascinated by books like 'Dream eater' and 'Grimm's Fairy Tales'. I knew back then that I would write books myself one day. As a teenager, I read even more, devouring thick books like 'Harry Potter' in just a few days. Suddenly, I began writing a novel on my own electronic typewriter. I lent it to friends, as well as other stories I wrote afterward. My friends were simply thrilled and couldn't get enough of my writing. I always said that the first books I would publish later would be about my life and my experiences, as I have infinitely much to tell people and to positively contribute to their journey.

How did you come up with the title?

Given the special and unique nature of my life, it came naturally to me through a spiritual inspiration to choose the title. Together with Mario Rank, who created the wonderful cover for the German version of my work, we also jointly crafted the title of my book 'A Special Life - The story of a life'.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

The experiences depicted in my book are based on my own life and those of my close family members and friends. Everything I recount happened exactly as I describe in my book. These experiences have been a continuous thread throughout my life since my early childhood, deeply influencing me and shaping the person I am today.

What are your current projects?

Currently, our team is busy preparing to present my book 'A Special Life' at the Landshut Environmental Fair in Germany this spring. We're planning to have our own booth and readings, which requires a lot of preparatory work. In parallel, we are working on the audiobook for my work. Additionally, if time allows, we plan to publish my second book, the next volume of my work, in the autumn/winter.

Do you write an outline before every book you write?

No, I definitely don't write an outline before each book. My writing process is guided by inner inspirations and a spiritual flow. Sometimes, I take notes or jot down points that I feel need to be included in my book. This has always been my way of writing, and I can't imagine doing it differently, as it wouldn't align with my natural approach to writing.

For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paperbacks?

While ebooks have their advantages, especially when traveling, nothing compares to the experience of holding a real book. The smell of a new book and the feeling of turning the pages are incomparable for me. Technology cannot replicate these sensory experiences. Therefore, I definitely prefer traditional books.

How do you relax?

My favorite way to relax is on our couch, either with good music or watching an exciting series on Netflix or Amazon. You might find it amusing, but I also find great relaxation in playing computer games. It helps me switch off my thoughts and de-stress from the day. It's very enjoyable too. However, to recharge, I prefer going out into nature where I can rejuvenate.

Which famous person, living or dead, would you like to meet and why?

I would love to meet Keanu Reeves. He's not only an outstanding actor but also an exceptional human being. What impresses me the most is how he has remained down-to-earth and natural. His loving and warm-hearted demeanor is remarkable, and the roles he plays seem to suit him perfectly. It would be an honor and a joy to have a conversation with him.

If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

I would definitely choose Spain or even South America by the sea. I still feel at home there, which will be clear to those who have read my book. For the future, I hope to live permanently by the sea again, especially for health reasons.

Do you see writing as a career?

I see writing more as a calling than a career. It's my heartfelt desire to share my experiences, thoughts, and emotions with others, to give them strength, courage, hope, joy, gratitude, love, and a strong sense of self-worth. Through my writing, I aim to show what is possible with the power of our thoughts and what life and our existence have to offer. I know this is part of my task in life, in my personal role as Tanja Begerack, and I am grateful for every moment I can fulfill and do justice to this life mission.
