    Each year the VFW Market Days event held at the Aransas Pass VFW Post 2932 has grown in attendance and organizers have already posted a schedule for the New Year. The event is held on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the VFW hall at 620 W. Wheeler Ave., across the street from City Hall.     Ingleside’s Round Up Days Returns in March It may seem a long way off, but the annual Round Up Days and Music Festival at Ingleside’s N.O. Simmons Park returns March 22nd and 23rd, 2024 the Chamber of Commerce posted on its Facebook page. The event includes a giant midway with food, amusement rides, and plenty of live music.

    Ingleside Prepares for State of the City Address Any member of the public can attend the annual State of the City address for Ingleside Thursday, February 15th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., but reservations are required in advance and payment for the accompanying luncheon to be held at Kiewit Offshore Services. The event, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, will feature Mayor Oscar Adame and City Manager Brenton Lewis. Shuttle busses will pick up guests from the parking lot of the Agape Fellowship building at 2291 S.     Mr. Kippy’s Storytime Returns to Aransas Pass Library Classes are underway for the 2023-2024 school year in Aransas Pass and that means Mr. Kippy’s Storytime has resumed at the Ed & Hazel Richmond Public Library at 110 N. Lamont St. in Aransas Pass. The iconic San Patricio County Children’s Librarian brings his wacky costumes and bag full of props to delight children of all ages every Tuesday at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. in the library meeting room.

    Raise an Arm and Save a Life

    Aransas Pass High School and the Coastal Bend Blood Center hosts a blood drive Wednesday, February 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 450 S. Ave. A. Student donors are asked to participate to earn their red cord at graduation. A free, ‘Find the Hero in YOU’ t-shirt will be distributed while supplies last.

    ‘Between the Covers’ Book Club Invites You to Read Along Ingleside’s Public Library is actively encouraging readers to consider joining the ‘Between the Covers’ book club that meets once a month.     Aransas Pass Civic Center Hosts Health Fair for All Need your blood pressure checked? Haven’t seen a medical professional in a while?     ‘Fish Fest’ Debuts as New Event in Aransas Pass

    DNA Productions, the same organizers behind the successful premiere ‘Salsa Fest’ in downtown Aransas Pass last year are introducing a new event ‘Fish Fest’, April 13-14 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. both days at Conn Brown Harbor, pending approval from the City Council. The event boasts “everything fishing” will be featured, including a long-distance casting contest to break the world record of 1,000 feet, fish-hole accuracy competition, Piggy Perch tournament for children, family games and fun, food trucks, live music all day, and a beer and wine bar.     Ingleside’s First Crawfish Cook-Off Coming in April Ingleside’s Chamber of Commerce has received the OK from City Hall to host the first ever ‘Crawfish Cook-Off’ event at N.O. Simmons Park at the corner of Ave. J and Hwy. 361 April 17-21. Officials expect as many as 8,000 people will come. In addition to tasty crawfish the inaugural event will feature live music, beer tents, craft vendors, and more. SR Boil House restaurant in Rockport is partnering with the Chamber organizing the five day festival.

    Ingleside Library’s After School Programs Underway Ingleside’s Public Library at 2775 Waco St. has resumed their afterschool programs. Every Tuesday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. children can join in arts and crafts activities. For ages five and under, the program takes place Fridays from 10-11:00 a.m., right after Mr. Kippy’s Storytime. And Mr. Kippy, the iconic Children’s Librarian for San Patricio County is back, dropping by the library with his wacky costumes and antics that have delighted generations. He visits Ingleside Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and Friday mornings from 8:309:30 a.m.

    Pardi Gras Returns to Downtown Aransas Pass Laissez les bons temps roule. Pardi Gras returns to downtown Aransas Pass February 10th next year, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will feature live music, a gumbo cook-off, food trucks and a parade.

    Ingleside Book Club Picks Reader’s Choice Not Your Mother’s Book Club, a new group established by the Ingleside Parks & Recreation Department, has selected its first novel for members to read, ‘If He Had Been With Me’, authored by Laura Nowlin. The group will meet Thursday, February 15th at 6:00 p.m. inside the Humble Community Center, 2821 Main St. (FM 1069) to discuss the book, so you have plenty of time between now and then to pick up a copy and read it.     ‘Miss Mardi Gras’ Pageant Coming to Aransas Pass

    A fixture in Conn Brown Harbor, Dorados Restaurant and Bar is introducing a new feature when ‘Pardi Gras’ returns to downtown Aransas Pass next month. The ‘Miss Mardi Gras’ pageant will make its premiere, the company announced in a recent Facebook post. The event occurs Friday night, February 9th at 6:00 p.m. at Dorados, 518 Bigelow St. There are three categories, and all contestants must be from Aransas Pass. They will include ‘Little Miss Pardi Gras’, ages K5th grade, ‘Junior Miss Pardi Gras’, ages 6th-8th grade, and ‘Miss Pardi Gras Queen’, ages 9th through 12th grade.     Methodist Men Hold Fish Fry in Ingleside God is calling, inviting you to attend a fish fry Sunday, February 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside the Ingleside Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 2572 Church St. It’s right behind the Value Bank branch, and across FM 1069 (Main St.) from the H.E.B. Pastor Gail Danforth said the Methodist Men’s group is doing all the cooking. A suggested donation of $10 per person includes a plate consisting of fried fish, French fries, the congregation’s ‘world famous’ coleslaw, bread, and tea.

    Paddy’s Day Fun Run That little Leprechaun is back. Ingleside on the Bay has scheduled its annual St. Paddy’s Day Fun Run & Walk for Saturday, March 16th, from 2:304:30 p.m., starting at City Park across from City Hall at 475 Starlight Dr. The entry fee for the one and three-mile events is $15 without a t-shirt, and $20 with a t-shirt. Each participant must sign a release waiver. Pick up shirts at 2:30 p.m., fun walk/run starts at 3:00 p.m. and ends at Bahía Marina/Sunset Hideaway on Bayshore Dr.

    Aransas Pass Senior Center Hosts Discussion on Internet Scams Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard conducts a discussion on avoiding Internet scams at the February 9th meeting of senior citizens inside the Aransas Pass Civic Center Friday, February 9th, from 1-2:00 p.m. inside the Lightning Welk Room, 700 W. Wheeler Ave. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

    IHS BBQ Team is Smokin’ for the Super Bowl

    Sunday, February 11th, most Texans will be watching the Super Bowl game. But the Ingleside High School BBQ team will be in the parking lot by the softball fields on Mustang Dr. cooking up some meat, all to raise funds to compete in future events. Known as the ‘Mustang Smoke Show’, the team is taking pre-sale orders only, now through February 6th.     Popular Indoor Market Returns to Aransas Pass Civic Center If the cold weather has you down, a little shopping might make you happier. The 12th annual Texas Winter Market II returns to the Aransas Pass Civic Center the weekend of February 10-11, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. featuring a variety of vendors selling food, clothing, art, gifts, and much more. There is an admission fee, but promoters will discount the price for each ticket with the donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item that will be given to a local food pantry. Admission is good for both days. Kids 12 and under are free. Hourly door prizes are featured and there’s ample parking. For more information call (888) 225-3427.

    Ingleside Fashion Show Fundraiser is Based on Trash Join the Ingleside Chamber which is hosting the 2nd Annual “Trashion Fashion” Show. This event is open to anyone that would like to participate in making a “Trash Outfit” for the show. It’s where trash becomes fashion.     Ingleside VFW Awards ‘Voices of Democracy’ Scholarships Within a few months, come May, the senior class at Ingleside High School will graduate. Before commencement, a majority of those receiving diplomas will have already decided on a college or university. The VFW Auxiliary of Post 6386 wants to help, planning to award two scholarships to applicants for the ‘Voices of Democracy’ competition. Students had to deliver an oral presentation discussing what the value of democracy means to them. From those entries, the top two winners will receive $500 and $300 scholarships for first and second place the evening of Tuesday, February 13th at the VFW Hall, 1452 Hwy. 361.
