If you're a fan of soccer, the name Christiano Ronaldo is no doubt familiar to you, and it's no surprise he comes in at No. 1 of the highest-paid athletes last year at a whopping $275 million per Sportico. Ronaldo signed a 2.5-year contract with Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr for $536,336,818 which made him the first athlete to sign a contract worth over $200 million per year.

Pro golfer and new LIV Golf personality Jon Rahm made $203 million after winning four PGA Tour events before defecting to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league for a big bag of money, abandoning the original tour.

Another international soccer player is next in Lionel Messi at a seemingly distant $130 million while NBA player LeBron James comes in fourth at $125.7 million. French soccer player Kylian Mbappe rounds out the top five at $125 million.
