District 281 creates tentative contract for teachers

    2024-02-10

Robbinsdale Area Schools and its union, the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers (RFT), reached a tentative agreement Feb. 5 on a contract for school years 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Robbinsdale educators will see a pay increase between 9-12% over the two-year contract. In addition, union members will receive a 19% increase in health benefit contributions from the district.

“It is always RFT’s intention to work collaboratively to come to an agreement that supports our students, staff and families,” Peter Eckhoff, president of the RFT said. “Today we celebrate a tentative agreement, and together we continue the great work in Robbinsdale Area Schools to meet the needs of our students and community.”

“We appreciate the effort our administration and our school board members made to help us keep up in this market that competes for high quality teaching staff,” he added.

RFT members will vote on the contract Tuesday, Feb. 27.

“The agreement honors the hard work and dedication our licensed staff give to our community every day,” said Marti Voight, interim superintendent of the district. “Both sides appreciate the dedication of the individuals who made up the negotiations teams and the positive outcome this will have on behalf of the students in Robbinsdale Area Schools.”
