I don’t attend the Emerald City Comic Con every year, but sometimes the guest list convinces me that it’s a show not to miss. Such is the case this year. I discover writers new to me at ECCC, thoroughly enjoy a stroll through Artist Alley, admire the cosplayers, and take photographs galore. It’s always a little thrilling to see creators and entertainers who embrace their nerdy fandom in person.

This huge celebration of pop culture has something for everyone. This is where worlds collide, from anime, video games, film, and LARP to comic books, graphic novels, RPG, and board games. Everything comes together under one roof and everyone is welcome. With workshops, panels, and hundreds of displays, there’s more than enough to keep you occupied for days.

Many of the guests have large loyal followings despite not being household names. Indie artists, fantasy authors, and Marvel illustrators will all be there. Author Terry Brooks will be on literary panels and will sign books. And then there are the big names that are recognizable outside of the world of geekdom.

Stars of movies and television: Chris Evans, Billy Dee Williams, Christina Ricci, Christopher Lloyd, Elijah Wood, Jodie Whitaker, John Rhys-Davies, Misha Collins, and Sean Astin.

This family-friendly event runs from February 29th through March 3rd at the Seattle Convention Center. Tickets are available for single days and for the whole convention. All of the VIP tickets are now sold out. Keep in mind that the line to get in the doors wraps around a few blocks and forms early, but moves fairly quickly.
