Tom Brady Close To Becoming Raiders Minority Owner

It's been almost a year since legendary quarterback Tom Brady negotiated with Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis to buy a minority stake in the team, and now the deal is finally making progress.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport , Brady is now finally on track to join the Raiders as a minority owner as soon as next month, if all goes well.

"Brady's pending investment in the Raiders was recently altered to reflect the proper valuation of the team, and league sources say he has reached the threshold to clear the NFL's hurdles and officially join the ranks of ownership," NFL Network writes .

Reportedly, the hold up came as a result of NFL owners believing that Brady's valuation was below market value. Sportico currently values the Raiders at roughly $5.8 billion and Brady's group, which also includes Knighthead Capital Management founder Thomas Wagner, is set to purchase a 10 percent stake, with Brady getting seven percent of that.

Brady and Wagner have paired up for several sports investments, including English soccer team Birmingham City F.C. and a Major League Pickleball team.

NFL Network reports that the plan is for the league's Finance Committee to consider Brady's investment at a meeting on March 4 or 5, with final approval coming coming during the NFL Annual Meeting from March 24-27, assuming all goes according to plan. If Brady's investment is approved, it would officially close the door on the GOAT returning to the field of play as owners cannot suit up for any team.

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has largely been out of the NFL spotlight this season, but that will change very soon.

Not only is Brady set to become a minority owner of the Raiders, but he's also entering the first year of a massive contract with Fox to be the network's top color commentator, working alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.
