Memphis Shooting Spree: Suspect Arrested, One Dead, Multiple Injured

The city of Memphis was rattled on Sunday by a shooting spree that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, with the suspect now in police custody, according to authorities.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) revealed that the suspect, a 20-year-old individual who was out on bond for first-degree murder and aggravated robbery, has been apprehended. However, the identity of the suspect has not yet been disclosed.

The shooting spree prompted a citywide manhunt, with law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to locate the perpetrator. The suspect was ultimately captured shortly before 3:45 p.m. on Sunday in the 5300 block of Haleville Road in Whitehaven.

At the Church of Eden on Pilot Drive, a shot was fired and a window of the building was shattered by the suspect after being denied entry.

Interim Police Chief C.J. Davis condemned the violence, labeling the shootings as "senseless acts of violence" and expressing sympathy for the victims and their families. Davis praised the efforts of the Memphis Police Officers, emphasizing that their swift action likely prevented further incidents.

The extensive manhunt involved coordination between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, highlighting the collaborative effort to bring the suspect to justice.
