In a harrowing incident on Tuesday afternoon, Prince William County police officers responded to a stabbing at an apprenticeship training center located in the 7000 block of Infantry Ridge Road, just outside Manassas. The situation escalated when officers encountered the stabbing suspect armed with a knife near the front entrance.

The initial call reporting the stabbing came in at 3:23 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found themselves face-to-face with a dangerous and armed assailant. In response to the imminent threat, more than one officer discharged their department-issued handguns, fatally striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The focus of the investigation revolves around the two victims of the initial altercation with the suspect. First aid was promptly administered to the victims, who were then transported to area hospitals. As of 5:25 p.m., their conditions remain unknown. Fortunately, no additional victims were discovered, and Prince William County police assured the public that the incident is contained, with no active threat to the surrounding community.

Infantry Ridge Road, the location of the tragic event, is situated in an office and industrial area off Battleview Parkway, just northeast of the Interstate 66/Sudley Road interchange. The proximity to Manassas National Battlefield Park and the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College adds a layer of complexity to the situation, involving both residential and educational areas.

Acknowledging the gravity of the incident, Prince William Police Chief Peter Newsham has sought assistance from the regional Critical Incident Response Team to oversee the investigation independently. As details continue to emerge, the community grapples with the aftermath of a confrontation that left one suspect dead and two victims hospitalized.
