Club offers snow skiing opportunities for Sun Cities residents

For those living full-time or visiting as snow birds, the Valley of Sun Ski Club is an opportunity to ski and play with family and friends. This multi-generational club in the West Valley is open to everyone with no age restrictions. The club, which started in 1988, does 2-3 planned ski trips annually. Ski trip locations have included Telluride, Park City, Tahoe area, Big Sky, Aspen/Snowmass and more.

The ski package typically includes lodging and ground transportation with optional meals and definitely après ski parties. Reservations for the winter trips are made in April. The club has information on annual ski passes, local lift deals and senior discounts. Reservations are accompanied by a refundable (90 days before the trip) $150 deposit.

While meetings are not a requirement to go on the organized trips, the Valley of Sun Ski Club meets the first Thursday of the month, November through April. Meetings include a 5 p.m. social and BYOB gathering with catered dinner at 6 p.m. and a short meeting at 7 p.m. The cost for dinner is between $25-$28.

The last two meetings for this spring will be Thursday, March 7, and Thursday, April 4, at Kuentz Recreation Center, 14401 R.H. Johnson Blvd. Annual club dues are $20 and the fiscal year for the club is April to April.

One of the most exciting things about the Valley of the Sun Ski Club is the inclusion of family and friends from all over the country. Anyone can belong and bring along friends and/or family to enjoy the ski trips.
