PATRICK Mahomes was visibly shocked by the San Francisco 49ers' decision to keep the ball after winning the coin toss ahead of overtime in Super Bowl LVIII.

The CW's Inside the NFL aired previously unseen highlights and exclusive sounds from the Kansas City Chiefs' 25-22 win in the latest episode, which premiered earlier this week.

And the footage included Mahomes' priceless reaction in one of the defining moments of the championship matchup as it was tied at 19-19.

In the clip, the Chiefs quarterback could be first seen discussing Kansas City's overtime strategy with head coach Andy Reid.

The defending champs seemingly didn't even consider going first in case they won the coin toss – and expected San Francisco to have a similar plan.

That's because the only question the two-time NFL MVP asked Reid and his coaches was which way they wanted to kick the ball.

The video then showed a stunned Mahomes jogging back from the middle of the field after 49ers linebacker Fred Warner relayed head coach Kyle Shanahan's decision to keep the ball to the officials.

"They want it! They want the ball," the Chiefs quarterback yelled.

"They wanted it. Hey, they want it! They wanted it, baby!"

Shanahan's call appeared to have caught Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce by surprise as well.

"We want them to have the ball," Kelce could be seen shouting.

"They want it, they can have it!"

The footage also showed the likely moment San Francisco started to realize they had made the wrong choice.

"Hey, even if we score a touchdown, they still get the ball," cameras caught fullback Kyle Juszczyk telling tight end Charlie Woerner and one of the 49ers coaches.

    "I didn't know that."

San Francisco only managed a field goal on the first overtime possession, presenting the Chiefs with an opportunity to claim victory if they scored a touchdown next.

A few minutes later, Mahomes connected with wide receiver Mecole Hardman on a three-yard score to secure the third championship in five years for Kansas City.
