Recently, Big Y supermarkets across Massachusetts have been hit with a concerning discovery: credit card skimmers. These illicit devices, designed to steal sensitive financial information, were found at several locations throughout the state, raising alarms among customers and authorities alike.

The affected Big Y stores include:

    St. James

    Springfield

    Chicopee

    Northampton

    Ware

    Southbridge

    Worcester

    Milford

    Wilbraham

    Ludlow

According to reports, the skimming devices were installed at specific terminals between December 19 and 21. Additionally, another device was discovered at the Westfield location, operating between December 19 and January 12.

In response to the incident, Big Y has taken swift action. The supermarket chain is currently working closely with law enforcement to investigate the matter thoroughly. Moreover, all terminals have undergone comprehensive inspections, with ongoing efforts to ensure the security of customer transactions.

Big Y has reassured customers that their safety and security are top priorities. In a statement addressing the situation, the company emphasized its commitment to transparency and pledged to promptly notify any affected individuals. Customers who have questions or concerns regarding the incident are encouraged to contact Big Y's dedicated hotline at 1-800-828-2688, available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Instances of credit card skimming are not only detrimental to individuals' financial well-being but also undermine trust in businesses. The discovery of these devices serves as a reminder for both consumers and retailers to remain vigilant against cyber threats. By working together and staying informed, we can better safeguard against such malicious activities and ensure a secure shopping experience for all.
