A full solar eclipse is coming to Tyler, Texas on April 8, and the local Empowerment Community Development Corporation nonprofit officials are starting to line up the day’s events.

Getting ready for the eclipse; Find your spot on the Empowerment Community Development Corporation complex for a historic event at 309 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tyler, Texas.

Organizations throughout the region are holding coinciding events to celebrate the celestial event.

Event coordinator Clarence Shackelford and Stanley Cofer said they also plan on bringing in some great activies throughout the day as the sky darkens overhead. Then during the full total eclipse, people can turn their attention upward.

“It’s really about the eclipse. We’re not trying to overwhelm the event that we’re there to see and enjoy,” Shackelford said.
