    Falcons, Mustangs, Rebels, Pirates take on state Nordic meet

    Armstrong, Breck, Champlin Park, and Park Centerall sent individual skiers to the 2024 MSHSL Nordic skiing state championships last week at Giant’s Ridge Resort near Biwabik.

    Armstrong

    Freshman Anders Decker was Armstrong’s top boys finisher at state, earning 18th place. His classic time of 13:47.1 and freestyle time of 11:57.4 combined for a pursuit time of 25:33.0.

    Senior Boden Sundell was next, earning 27th place out of 112 with a classic time of 13:58.0 and freestyle time of 11:53.6 for a pursuit time of 25:50.9.

    Breck

    Junior Josh Frett, Breck’s sole boys participant, earned eighth place with impressive classic and freestyle times of 13:10.5 and 11:42.8, totaling a pursuit time of 24:53.1.

    Junior Esme Gulbransen starred for Breck girls Nordic skiing, earning 64th place with classic and freestyle times of 17:26.0 and 14:31.4 respectively. Her combined pursuit time was 31:56.6.

    Champlin Park

    The Rebels were represented by junior Abby Hibbs at state, who finished 73rd in the girls overall standings. Hibbs earned a classic time of 17:28.5 and a freestyle time of 14:47.6 for a combined pursuit time of 32:15.8.

    Park Center

    Senior Reid Binsfeld was the sole boys representative for the Park Center/Totino-Grace co-op, earning 15th place with a classic time of 13:28.8 and a freestyle time of 11:53.1 for a pursuit time of 25:21.3.

    Sophomore Selah Binsfeld earned 57th for the co-op program in the girls races, earning a classic time of 17:08.6 and a freestyle time of 14:21.4 for a pursuit time of 31:29.6.
