BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Land clearing in Pimlico is underway to make way for a new fire station that will eventually serve the growing community.

“This fire station is being built to better serve the residents of the Pimlico fire district and to expand our operations for generations to come,” the Pimlico Rural Volunteer Fire Department posted to its Facebook page recently.

As growth in Berkeley County continues, PRVFD said it’s outgrowing its current longtime location at 1607 Pimlico Boulevard.

The new 10,000-square-foot facility will house the department’s new ladder truck, one engine, a light rescue and will become the headquarters station for PRVFD.

“This facility will proudly be a centerpiece for our local communities!” PRVFD said.

PRVFD Fire Chief Kevin Carter recently told WCBD-TV that the new fire station will cost approximately $3.4 million and will take up to 1.5 years to complete.
