Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary in Sarona will be holding an exotic surrender event on Feb. 24.

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue is collaborating with Hunt Hill, Pet Advocacy Network and the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institute to hold the exotic pet surrender event from noon to 2 p.m. at Hunt Hill, N2384 Hunt Hill Road, Sarona.

Accepted at the event will be fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals and plants. Not accepted are domestic pets, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs and chickens.

Attendees can also meet animal ambassadors and learn about their stories, and capture memories at a photo booth with the rescued pets.

In some areas, rehoming options for exotic animals are limited, and releasing them is harmful to both the animal and the environment. J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue, along with event hosts and sponsors, aim to provide a safe and loving environment for surrendered exotic pets.
