    Louisiana Festivals & Events Happening this Weekend: February 21 through February 25

    The last weekend of February is already upon us. Here are a few activities to enjoy around the state.

    Eagle Expo & More - Morgan City - February 22, 23, 24

    900 Dr. MLK Blvd.

    Boat tours, walking tours, presentations, and a photography tour will let visitors enjoy close encounters with birds of prey including the American Bald Eagle, Falcon, Owl, Black Vulture, and Hawk, at the 19th annual Eagle Expo. Additional bird sightings will include Anhinga, Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Great Egret, White Ibis, Belted Kingfisher, Cormorant, White Pelicans, Warblers, Carolina Chickadees, terns, gulls, wading birds, ducks, songbirds, and more.

    Tickets for tours and featured events range from $0 to $77.50, and can be purchased online. School groups are invited to attend the Wings to Soar presentation at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21. A sunset social and dinner happen on Friday evening at Bay City Bistro. Shirts are available for purchase.

    New Orleans French Film Festival - February 22 through 28

    The Prytania Theatre Uptown is the setting for the screening of 14 feature films and 11 shorts featuring francophone communities from around the world during the 27th New Orleans French Film Festival.This year's films were produced in France, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Democratic Republic of Congo, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, and the US.

    Tickets are available for in-person screenings, virtual cinema screenings, and all-access film passes.

    BassMaster Elite Series 2024 - Many - February 22, 23, 24, 25

    3462 Cypress Bend Drive

    Taking place on Toledo Bend Lake, the 2024 BassMaster Elite Series Opener is fun for the whole family. In addition to professional bass fishing, there will be music, exhibits, vendors, tamale tasting, and a kid's corner.

    Concert performances on Saturday and Sunday feature Derrick McLendon, Wayne Toups, Spenser Brunson, and Joey Greer.

    The State of Black Shreveport Symposium - February 23, 24, 25

    617 Texas Street/3050 Martin Luther King Drive

    The Robinson Film Center and Southern University Shreveport will host a weekend of Black Power, Perspective, and Perseverance with The State of Black Shreveport. Focused on the current social, cultural, political, and economic conditions of the Black community, the symposium will center on identifying shared problems to find mutually beneficial solutions.

    The weekend begins with a screening on Friday night of the HBO Original documentary "South to Black Power" by New York Times bestseller and op-ed columnist, Charles Blow. The evening will include an artist talk, Q&A, book signing, and opening reception. Saturday will feature a panel discussion and a ticketed awards luncheon. Worship services will be followed by a reception on Sunday.
