Beaufort, SC just named Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina

Beaufort, SC was just named the Most Charming Town in South Carolina, and it's not the first time. In a February article, Reader's Digest named the Most Charming Towns in All 50 States and Beaufort got the nod for the Palmetto State.

Yes, Beaufort is getting more accolades, and we couldn’t be happier.

Sure, cities like New York and Chicago are big tourist attractions," Reader's Digest said, "but there’s nothing like the charm of a small town when you want to book a relaxing weekend getaway."

In its article when it came to Beaufort, Reader's Digest made sure to point out that, “if you’ve been to Charleston, South Carolina, envision Beaufort as a mini-version of that historic American city."

"Set along the Atlantic Ocean, Beaufort has plenty of moss-draped oaks, Civil War–era homes and that genteel Southern setting of the South Carolina Lowcountry. It is the state’s second-oldest city, founded in 1711.”

The publication made sure to mention downtown's Waterfront Park was one thing not to miss. "Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Overlooking the bay, the peaceful park is surrounded by galleries, restaurants and shops."

Sounds about right to us.

There’s just something so special about our part of the Lowcountry that it keeps being raved about all over the internet and in nationally published magazines.

In being named most charming, Beaufort was in some good company on the list with several other beautiful towns accompanying it. Telluride, CO, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, Sanibel, FL, Helen, GA are just a few mentioned in the article.

This isn’t really that much of a surprise. We, with much bias, know that Beaufort is the best town. The accolades have been pouring in for Beaufort recently.

In just the past year or so, Beaufort has also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina; one of the Prettiest Small Towns in America; and one of the Most Beautiful Towns in the U.S.

In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named Beaufort the Best Small Town in South Carolina.
