    Police offer $1,000 reward for help identifying Virginia road rage shooter

    ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — Authorities are offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest of a person involved in a road rage incident.

    According to a press release distributed by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), the incident occurred on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

    At approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of McGaheysville Road.

    Allegedly, multiple shots had been fired during an incident between two vehicles heading east on Route 33, toward Elkton.

    According to the release, one vehicle was turning onto McGaheysville Road (Rt. 996) when another came from behind at the Island Ford Road (Rt 649) intersection, and fired multiple rounds. At least one round struck the first vehicle and another struck a nearby home. There were no reported injuries.

    The shooter’s vehicle was described as a dark colored sedan, of unknown make and model. The driver was described as a white male with long, dark hair. Deputies immediately searched the area for the suspect’s vehicle but were unable to locate it.

    A criminal investigation is now underway, and there is a $1,000 cash reward offered by the Rockingham Harrisonburg Crime Solvers for information leading to an arrest. Callers may request anonymity.
