Gov. Tina Kotek announced Monday, Feb. 26, that Andre Bealer has joined her administration as director of equity and racial justice.

Bealer most recently served as the Workforce Equity Program Manager for Metro , the regional government serving the urban portions of Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties.

“I am eager to contribute my passion, experience and dedication to advancing social justice and fostering positive change within our communities,” Bealer said. “This pivotal role underscores Gov. Kotek’s commitment to dismantling systemic inequities, promoting diversity, and nurturing a culture where justice is not just an ideal but a lived reality.”

Bealer has been working in workforce development, project management, policy analysis and community engagement for nearly a decade. While at Metro, he led the advancement of workforce equity initiatives and implemented organization and region-wide equity programs, in coordination with public agencies and community organizations.

He also has advised on policy development and served as a liaison between the Metro Council President and state, local and federal agencies.

He also has worked with the National Association of Minority Contractors-Oregon and served as a board member for Verde , a private agency that helps communities by building environmental wealth through social enterprise, outreach and advocacy.

"He brings a steadfast commitment to centering equity in his work, and I look forward to his leadership on our team," Kotek said of Bealer.
