Play review: 'Drinking Habits' echoes Monty Python

“Drinking Habits” is a fun, clean comedy, with laugh-out-loud situations and dialogue.

The story takes place in a tiny convent where The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing are hiding a secret or several. When Paul and Sally, a former couple turned reporting team, show up at the convent to investigate a case involving award-winning wine, they get in deeper than expected.

Shenanigans ensue when Sally is mistaken for a new nun joining the convent, and Paul goes undercover to stay close by Sally’s side and help crack the case, much to his disapproval.

The Tennessee Valley Theatre has done a brilliant job of bringing the story to life.

The cast believes that this is an experience that anyone who enjoys a good comedy can appreciate. Even though the story takes place in a convent, none of the material makes jest of religion; instead, it takes a very far-fetched situation and turns it into a Monty Python-style comedy with twists and turns that will have you laughing and guessing from start to finish.
