    Spooner girls wrap up basketball season with Regional loss at Barron

    BARRON — The Spooner Rails girls saw their basketball season come to a sudden conclusion in the WIAA Division 3 Regional opener at Barron on Tuesday, Feb. 20. In a contest between two Heart O’ North Conference opponents, Barron topped Spooner 49-32.

    On Feb. 15, the Spooner girls had closed out the regular season on a positive note, beating Chetek-Weyerhaeuser in a close 47-45 contest at home.

    For the season, Sevanna Burke was the Point Per Game leader with an average of 14.0. Avery Voeltz was next with 10.6, and Lily Hotchkiss had 8.4.

    In Rebounds Per Game average, Burke led the Rails with 7.7, and Hotchkiss had 7.3. In Assists Per Game, Burke averaged 2.2, with Voeltz averaging 1.5.
