Steve Kerr joined Willard and Dibs Wednesday afternoon and there was plenty to chew on. The Warriors head coach discussed his contract extension, Andrew Wiggins' personal absence and more.

By far the most notable part of Kerr's appearance was the discussion about Andrew Wiggins' absence. Wiggins missed Tuesday night's game in Washington due to a personal matter and has already been ruled out for Thursday's contest at Madison Square Garden.

Just like last season, Kerr declined to go into detail about Wiggins' situation.

"Wiggs is dealing with a personal matter and as you guys know, he's a very private person," Kerr said. "So we're going to keep everything kind of just under wraps until he's back. We do expect him to be back but we just we don't exactly know when."

Willard followed up to get any clarity on whether it's expected to be a long-term situation like it was last season. Kerr seemed uncertain.

"I just think that we're in a position where Wiggs is a private person," Kerr said. "And so he's asked to keep it private and we're gonna honor that. So it doesn't help for me to sit here and try to explain any of that. The bottom line is, we respect Wiggs, we need him, and we fully expect him back, but we just don't know when that will be."

The answer looks quite a bit better on paper than it did on air, as Kerr sighed and hesitated answering the question.

As far as his contract extension, Kerr said he was always confident it would get done.

"It was never in doubt, really," Kerr said. "I knew I wanted to come back and Joe told me right from the beginning that he wanted me back. There's just a lot going on during the NBA season. There's games, there's injuries, there's trades, there's draft prep, there's so much stuff and that stuff takes time, it just does.

"I think ultimately, it just came down to us all agreeing that two years sounded about right. It will give us a chance to go forward with this current group for the next couple of years, and then we can reassess. And I just feel like we are right now. It made perfect sense to come back the next couple of years keep this thing going."

In addition to Wiggins and his contract, Kerr discussed plenty more above, including whether Stephen Curry would play on the second game of a back-to-back, how Klay Thompson and Chris Paul have embraced coming off the bench, and more.
