TARGET is responding to customer complaints after some shoppers walked out over long lines and other issues.

Footage from a Target store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey showed several customers waiting in line to be checked out by the only two available cashiers.

Meanwhile, the self-checkout kiosk remained unused.

"The lines were too long," customer Reggie Regg told Fox affiliate WTXT-TV.

Regg left the store empty-handed after refusing to wait in line.

"No, I couldn't wait in that line. I had so much to do today."

Other shoppers shared similar stories of issues at several Target locations.

"I think they need to hire more people to work the registers. It is that simple," Wayne Mertz told the outlet.

Mertz isn't a fan of self-checkout and always goes for a traditional cashier if it's available.

"Having people come in, shop, pay their own good money, then have to check themselves out and then have security standing at the door doubling checking to make sure you did what one of their employees should have been doing," he said.

"I do not think that is right."

Some customers believe low staffing and theft at self-checkout are the reasons behind the change.

"A lot of people don't have respect for security, so they just walk out of the store," said Regg.

A Target spokesperson gave the outlet the following statement: "In select stores, we are piloting a number of tests to determine their impact on the overall guest experience. These tests vary by location."

One store in Haddonfield had all of its self-checkout machines open and cellphone video showed six empty cashier aisles.

Customer service and exchange counters at Haddonfield and Cherry Hill were both open.

Not every customer was completely against using self-checkout, however.

"I do prefer self-checkout. It is quicker. It is easier," Adrienne Jones told the outlet.

"I guess they're trying to figure out what's best for them and not so much what's best for the customer."

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Target for comment.

The reality is stores save lots of money overtime reducing overhead. No insurance, reduced liability issues, no vacation pay, less employee incentive money to cash out, less raises and promotions, reduced people issues, etc. The future is here. All those who choose to remain ignorant to technology's impact on the Entire World will be left behind. Rich folks aren't looking for ways to decrease their profits. How do we accomplish even more with less people? Less costly headaches? Lots of folks shop online....including groceries, personal care items, etc. Why would a company hire a bunch of Cashiers when customers complained about long waits when people did the job before? You can go shop somewhere else now, but do you really think there will continue to be lots of other options? Again, lie to yourself, but the future is here.....Less manpower and More technology. I know I burst some bubbles, but it's the truth. Smh
