Crime Wave: 8 Robberies Rock Chicago's Northwest Side

    2024-02-29

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a wave of fear swept through Chicago's Northwest Side as a series of eight armed robberies unfolded within a mere hour-and-a-half. The brazen incidents, which appear to be linked, have prompted a swift and intensive investigation by the Chicago Police Department.

Most of the robberies took place in the Logan Square neighborhood, with one occurring in the nearby Hermosa neighborhood. In each instance, the perpetrators arrived on the scene in a dark-colored sedan. Armed with handguns, they targeted unsuspecting victims, forcibly relieving them of their personal belongings before fleeing the scene.

The timeline and locations of these alarming incidents are as follows:

4400 block of West Armitage Avenue at 4:30 a.m.

3300 block of West Armitage Avenue between 5:20 and 5:40 a.m.

2000 block of North Avers Avenue at 5:26 a.m.

1800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue at 5:30 a.m.

3500 block of West Dickens Avenue at 5:35 a.m.

200 block of North Springfield Avenue between 5:35 and 5:43 a.m.

2300 block of North Spaulding Avenue at 5:45 a.m.

3300 block of West Armitage Avenue at 6:03 a.m.

The sheer audacity and frequency of these crimes have left residents on edge and law enforcement agencies on high alert. Urgent appeals have been made to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly. Chicago Police urge individuals who find themselves victimized or witness to these crimes to dial 911 immediately, providing detailed descriptions of the perpetrators and their vehicles.

For those with any information pertaining to these robberies, the Chicago Police Department encourages reaching out to the Area 5 Bureau of Detectives at 312-746-7394. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could prove instrumental in bringing these perpetrators to justice and restoring a sense of security to the affected communities.

As the investigation unfolds, residents are reminded to prioritize their safety, remain vigilant, and stand united against criminal activities that threaten the peace and security of our neighborhoods. Together, with the collective efforts of law enforcement and the community, we can combat crime and ensure a safer future for all.
